Film is one of my great loves. There are several genres which partricularly make my heart flutter. Examples include Movies About Women Who Lie to Themselves, movies about documents (a phrase I'll surely elaborate on later), and movies about showbiz. My greatest cinematic love is the actress, my second the auteur. In this section I'll be talking about actresses and their bodies of work, particular performances, particular films, particular directors, and particular genres. Given the tragically underrepresented status of women behind the camera, there will be many instances where the directors I discuss will be men, but they will be men who make the stories of women their artistic priority and give actresses plenty of opportunity to do acute psychological portraiture and, of course, pose.
